Ricki Derek and his Big Band, Tuesday August 12th and Friday August 29th. This is a up close chance to see a great, big band performance as well as sneak a listen to some of the tunes on Ricki's upcoming album. This show has become a regular thing as it has gone over very well and seems to be a good enough reason to leave the tv behind and swing out on a Tuesday! RICKI AND THE TRIO FROM MARS BACK IN BIG D

The fine folks at Dallas's City Tavern have demanded that Ricki and his fine trio of musicians return to downtown's finest pub. After intense negotiations (a couple of drinks) Ricki agreed. This is a casual joint in the heart of the city. The staff is nice, the food is good, and the drinks are cold. This series is Thursdays through September (EXCEPT AUGUST 21ST).

NEW ALBUM DUE OUT THIS SUMMER - UPDATE

Ricki is putting the finishing touches on his latest album. This project is a full length cd with Ricki and his 16 piece big band. It sounds amazing so far. Once the vocals are complete, mixing, mastering and off it goes. In the upcoming weeks we will be mixing, mastering, and finishing the cover art, etc. A release date has not been set.

Ricki and his Trio From Mars returned to the City Tavern for Thursdays in April. It was a cool, laid back vibe and nice crowds to spite every team being in the play offs. Thanks to all who came out and we'll do it again after the Summer.

A SAD DAY IN DALLAS

The music world & Dallas was hit with a severe blow with tragic and early death Jeffrey Carter Albrecht. He was a great guy, a very talented musician and quite a factor in the Dallas music scene. He will be missed.

RUNNING IN 08?

Ricki is, once again, putting together a panel to explore the possibility of a presidential run in 08. His failed run in 2000 and in 04 were only inspiration for him to spend lots of money and time again for this bid. RICKI TO OPEN NIGHTCLUB

Ricki is getting in to the bar business. Work has begun on Scat Jazz Lounge in Ft Worth's Sundance Square. After years of talking about and thinking about it, Ricki has made the leap. The club will be in the heart of Sundance Square and a block away from Bass Hall. A classic venue featuring live jazz and a great mix of recorded, old school tunes. No beer signs, no tv's and no juke, just a cool lounge for drinking and enjoying. Similar to NY's Smalls or The Village Vanguard, Scat will be downstairs with a cozy, big city feel. Attention to detail will be the key, from the stage to the martini's, nothing will be overlooked. After years of performing all over, Ricki has listened to what people are longing for and it just so happens to be exactly what Ricki and his partners wanted themselves. The best local and national acts will be hand picked to perform at Scat and you'll probably see Ricki take the stage too...of course. EMMY AWARD WINNING

Ricki Derek recieved an Emmy for his musical performance on the ABC commercial "Hansen Style". To see the video go to the SIGHTS page and click on the video. Ricki and the band are featured throughout the commercial along side that other guy. The shoot was a lot of fun, but forced the band to change sleeping habits for several months. It is now illegal to refer to Ricki as just Ricki. You must now say Emmy Award Winning Performer Ricki Derek or you could pay a fine and be subject to up to one year in jail. Sometimes Ricki brings his Emmy with him, so just ask to see it.
